Minimum Hardware Requirements for
HOU-IP
PC Users
HOU image processing and curriculum software (1997 version) is designed to
run on 486 or Pentium PC running Windows95. Windows 3.1 can run the software
if a workaround procedure is followed.
Mac Users
Macintosh II, PowerMac, and similar systems are supported.
All systems must have:
- At least 8 MBytes of local RAM -- 16 MBytes is better
- SVGA monitor with sufficient resolution for
the quality of images to be used. For example,
participants searching for asteroids would
want a screen which is as large as possible.
Other Technical Requirements
- HOU participants must be able to use Internet Explorer, Netscape or a
similar browser on the WWW; i.e. they must have access to a direct, PPP,
or SLIP connection to the Internet.
- A CD-ROM reader, while not required, is much easier to use for loading
the HOU curriculum image processing software than a 3.5" diskette drive.
