Educational Supernovae Follow-up Program
http://www.eu-hou.net/supernovae - genuine student's measurements have been added to the data base. Most of recent observations have been done with the Ironwood North Observatory telescope provided to us by the HOU program. The pedagogical context turns out to be valid in the sense that there is just enough difficulty in taking data and performing measurement on the actual fits image that an average student we deal with feels encouraged to continue and get more and more data.

We hope to get substantial participation from students around the world to make this a truly Global HOU endeavor.

Creation of the portal has been supported by the EU-HOU grant.
The authors are Krzysztof Czart and Jan Pomierny from portal
Astronomia.pl and dr Krzysztof Rochowicz, EU-HOU teacher and TRA.

The SEFP is managed, administered and coordinated by Krzysztof
Rochowicz. The basic idea is very simple. Teachers can register
at the portal (registration is supervised by the administrator),
download information about recent supernovae, including position,
finding charts and information about reference stars. Supernovae
are preselected so that there should be a nearby standard star for each
supernovae proposed for observations.

Schools having access to Remotely Controlled Educational
Telescopes, such like Faulkes Telescopes, can make their own
observations, perform data reduction (we suggest SalsaJ as
the software recommended by the SEFP project) and log their own
observation to the data base via the appropriate web page of
the portal. The light curves containing observations made by
various schools and also of external observers can be retrieved
by a mouseclick. Teachers and pupils can exchanhe e-mails and use
forum of the www.euhou.net to discuss their observations.

Our idea is that it will be a truly international program.
Portal itself is constructed in such a way that it can be easily
cloned in a national language. There is an e-mail hot-line,
supernovae@euhou.net, where Krzysztof Rochowicz will try to
answer all questions and provide additional information.
